Tennessee Civil War Trails

Sumner County has a rich heritage, and Tennessee had their share of battles, skirmishes and raids.  We are proud to be part of the Tennessee Civil War Trail, which preserves these stories.  

Trousdale Place in Gallatin was the first of our sites to participate, and their marker is already installed.

The City of Gallatin has a marker near the square at City Hall describing the Union occupation of Gallatin.

Plans are underway for several other markers throughout the county, through partnerships with the Sumner County Historical Society, cities, businesses and historic sites.  The CVB provides a Heritage Marketing Grant program for the historic sites, and allowed the markers to qualify for grant funds.

A dedication of our first two markers was held on Monday, July 13 at  Gallatin City Hall and Trousdale Place. Here are some pictures of the ceremony:
